New Online School Caters to Gay Students
Minnesota educator David Glick says the online high school he founded for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students is an environment free of hostility. GLBTQ Online High School is believed to be the first of its kind and is receiving applications from across the nation. Glick says the curriculum will be “GLBTQ-friendly,” but some worry online schooling may create a feeling of isolation among gay students.

Discussion by Mark and Kathy about the great potential to use this money to “keep on giving/teaching” faculty years ahead!

Education Secretary Arne Duncan has some suggestions for how schools can spend their windfall from the economic stimulus law, including summer school and extra pay for teachers to coach struggling colleagues. The nation’s schools will get an unprecedented amount of money — about $100 billion, double the amount of education spending under President George W. Bush — over the two-year life of the new stimulus law. The Obama administration has said generally how it wants the money spent, and it has warned states not to use the money to plug budget holes, despite loopholes created by Congress that would allow that to happen…

	Eschool News Recruits Student Broadcasters

Student broadcasters across the nation are getting a chance to be seen and heard by several thousands of education stakeholders, thanks to a new video news network created by eSchool News...Every week, students interested in video production, and schools interested in highlighting their students' talents, will receive information from eSchool News on the most popular, and relevant, ed-tech stories. From there, the participating schools' production teams will shoot a script based on those stories and use their creative judgment in integrating graphics and photography into the news report. Each video will be approximately 2-3 minutes and will revolve around weekly news as reported by eSchool News.
